There is a lot of misleading information floating around about tax policy. In “The Tax Deception”, John Gaver, clears up the confusion in plain, non-technical language. To achieve this, he breaks down the issue into small, easily digestible pieces or “goals” and then ranks each type of tax policy on each goal. A goals-based analysis is a proven decision-making technique that is used by everyone from corporate boards to ordinary people buying a car. By breaking any decision down into small pieces, it allows people to understand and evaluate even the most complex of issues.

Many people already use a goals-based analysis and never realize that is what they are doing. When you set out to buy a new car, you have a set of features that you want in your new car. Those are your goals. Although you may not find the exact car you want, the car you end up with will almost certainly be the one that best meets your pre-determined goals.

Tax policy is no different. In “The Tax Deception”, John undertakes a goals-based analysis of the current progressive income tax, the Flat Tax, and the FAIRtax. By breaking down tax policy into small digestible bites, John reveals the truth about each plan and exposes the deceptions that are being spread about the various plans. By the time you finish reading this book, not only will you have a much clearer understanding of each of the tax systems discussed, but you’ll have the ability to apply this method to any future policy choices.

“The Tax Deception” was inspired by comments and requests of readers of John’s earlier book, “The Rich Don’t Pay Tax! …Or Do They?”, now in its second edition. The last part of that book was a goals-based analysis on tax reform, using 13 goals. But the focus of that analysis was limited to the primary subject of that book. In “The Tax Deception”, John expands this analysis to tax policy in general. Thanks largely to suggestions from readers of that earlier book, he has added several new goals and this analysis now includes 22 goals.

“The Tax Deception” is now available in print, Kindle, Apple Books, and Nook format.
